I think Paul makes a good point there, and a future exercise to see
what we can do to improve the online cider pub guide by increasing the
coverage in Devon, Dorset and Somerset would be a very worthwhile
thing to do. There's also plenty of scope for more general article
type writing about cidermaking, planting and looking after orchards,
advice for cider bar managers, allsorts really.

For my own research, I've been keeping records of what's happened
since I posted my original message highlighting the weaker areas
last Saturday, 8 days ago.

In that time, overall, 51 new outlets have been disclosed, with some
9 others waiting to be added. This represents a 15% increase to the
online pub guide which was started just 8 months ago and now lists 438
outlets excluding those in waiting.

13 were mentioned here on the mailing list, of which 6 made their way
onto the Wiki so far.

44 were added directly to the wiki, including those 6.

In the weaker areas highlighted, there was an increase of 88% from this:
Scotland 0
Lincolnshire 1
Northamptonshire 2
Sussex 2
Yorkshire 2
Shropshire 3
Staffordshire 3
Surrey 4
Norfolk 4
Essex 4 total 25

To this:
Scotland 0
Lincolnshire 1
Northamptonshire 3
Sussex 3
Yorkshire 11
Shropshire 4
Staffordshire 9
Surrey 5
Norfolk 4
Essex 7 total 47

with some good leads for Scotland waiting to be researched.

So all in all I think it's been an extremely fruitful week in which
it has been demonstrated that the young online wiki guide is really
coming into its own already thanks to everybody who has contributed in any way at all, especially Richard Fairhurst who has become a prolific contributor and editor.
